“You’re handsome and majestic!” Someone shouts from the crowd.
“You’re handsome and majestic? Now THAT’S how to heckle!” Fyfe responds. “This song’s about being handsome and majestic” and they launch into I Don’t Feel Amazing Now.
Guillemots are a band of SO much character, never more so live - I doubt you’d see them do the same version of a song twice.
Countless instruments and tools the majority of an audience wouldn’t know the name of (what IS that contraption Magrao has that makes sounds based on how close or far his hand is to it?).
They’re like Arcade Fire in that way, certainly the Arcade Fire of their field anyway. But what is their field? Like AF there are so many things going on on the stage at any one time and produce a sound like no other band has. What differs the two however us that Guillemots are yet to translate this to record.
I hope upon hope that one day they’ll achieve this. EVERYTHING about their live performance is brilliant, so why is 60% of their recorded sound so mediocre?
