and even V might get The Stone Roses this year.

Here we have our first announcement of the British big guns this year. Is this what we call a good line-up these days?
Sure this calibre of a line-up might work as an all rounder, attracting the masses in an attempt to satisfy the needs of everything that’s been popular in the charts this year, but where are the good indie and alternative bands? Last year you had Primal Scream, Pulp, Arctic Monkeys and the more alternative Eels and Tame Impala. Granted it’s only the first announcement, maybe I’m jumping the gun?
The Stone Roses of course are the saving grace, and the possibility they might not play any other UK festivals is enough for many a fan to purchase a ticket and venture across the border. Indeed the return of Happy Mondays and seeing Noel Gallagher’s Birds doing their first festival rounds will be a sight to see, but let’s not pretend they won’t be appearing at other festivals.
Then again, Snow Patrol? A band well past their best who should be saved for V, even by T in the Park’s dwindling standards. Who even buys their records anymore? Elbow have played nearly every festival going in the last few years, do we really need to see them again? Kasabian are a good live act I’m glad are finally headlining festivals but they headlined this one two years ago.
New Order are already headlining Bestival and we’ve all seen those suspect Reading posters flying around. Without Glastonbury this year are we doomed not to have an original line-up in 2012?
